All Of My Commissions & Gifts Made in 2021

2021 Wrapped Up

It was a good year for Two Little Kits. My amount of orders increased a little, my pieces had good variations in what was needed to stitch, I had some new challenges requested and I pushed myself in improving the restrictions I was either given or I gave to myself.

I'm hoping 2022 keeps up this momentum! I've got a few pieces in the works currently and I can't wait to show them off both here and on my social media profiles. I'm also planning on catching up on some of last year's pieces right here on the blog (specifically the house piece! I can't believe I didn't write about that earlier!) so I hope you keep an eye out for those. They've been good for me to be able to use to reflect on how I did.

Details

I wanted to share some closer details of parts I am particularly pleased with and how they turned out. Apparently I have a lot more work to do when it comes to stitching men/boys… Sorry, guys!

I also didn't get many orders this year including pets, which is unfortunate. The one piece that has a pet, I am very pleased with how it turned out!

Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a little girl with long, brown hair wearing a plaid shirt.
First time properly stitching hair tucked behind the ear.
Embroidery piece depicting a tiny, delicate little pink flower using the cast-on stitch
Delicate little pink flower. Simple is beautiful.
Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a blonde woman wearing a floral blouse.
Detailed, floral blouse came out exactly as I hoped.
Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a woman wearing a face mask with a long, brown braid in her hair.
The only face mask I stitched this year (thankfully) and it came out amazing!
Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a woman with very big, curly hair and a pink ombré shirt.
I couldn't be more pleased with how this woman's hair turned out. It's true to life!
Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a young girl in a reindeer shirt.
Absolutely adore how this girls' shirt came out!
Cross-stitch piece depicting a black, white and brown dog sitting next to its owner.
The only pet I did and I am super pleased with it!
Embroidery piece depicting a bouquet of flowers on a circle shape with delicate leaves and pastel pinks.
I tried a new way of stitching leaves on this piece and I'm obsessed.
Cross-stitch & embroidery piece depicting a blonde woman in a cute, blue & floral, summer dress.
Another dress I am super pleased with how it turned out!
A large cross-stitch piece of a Texan home with tall trees in the background, grass in the foreground and a carport to the side.
My 'pièce de résistance' for 2021. It took me 3 weeks of designing and 9 weeks of stitching. I really do hope I get a project like this again for 2022.

Let me know in the comments below, what detailed piece is your favourite!

Ordering your own

If you are thinking about ordering a portrait this year, I encourage you to get in touch sooner rather than later. Especially if it is a gift!
Cross-stitch and embroidery (but especially cross-stitch) is not a fast hobby. I've done a lot of posts over on Instagram about this if you're interested but basically, it is slow. So if you're wanting to order a gift that will blow someone away; like what you've seen in this post, I would love to chat with you!
